This has got to break some kind of WIP record! I began this quilt top ten years ago. That’s right folks – a decade. This last week I got the top pieced and then the back pieced. Now it’s just waiting to be basted. I’m hoping it doesn’t take me another ten years to get it quilted.
The sad part of it is, that the quilt USED to match my living room. Now there’s nothing in my house that are these colors. Nothing. It’s a nice big twin size quilt too. I guess when it’s finished it will go in the closet for when guests come to visit!
i had a similar WIP quilt...same colors! i finally gave it to humanitarian and had them tie it. it was a queen size even. yikes.
ReplyDeleteWell, my SunBonnet Sue, made by my Mama was started when I was 8 years old. It was given to me on my 60th birthday by my Mama who pieced and quilted it by hand after having had a debilitating stroke. The quilt had layed untouched for over 50 years with only the squares completed. When she decided to finish it, the girls had to be removed from the original white squares and placed on new fabric. She embroideried on each dolls hat and the dresses are made from fabric of dresses of four generations, which makes it very special. The quilt means so much to me. I wish I had a pic to add here. I guess the meaning to all of this is...As Charlie Brown says, "Never, ever give up." Your Stars are lovely and I just may try my hand at them some day.
