The Salt Lake Modern Quilt Guild is doing a pillow swap as part of their monthly meeting tomorrow night. I didn’t think I’d have time to make anything so I wasn’t planning on joining in. Then I saw a few of the pillows that some other SLMQG members were bringing for the swap and I knew I HAD to join!
So here’s my pillow in progress - Monday night I fused some Heat n’ Bond Lite to some green scraps and cut a simple leaf shape out of each print. Side note: aren't they pretty? I sure have a TON of green scraps. My bin overfloweth.
Then I dug through my stash and found eight gray fabrics I liked -
and used those to make the background for the leaves. Last night I fused the leaves and then quilted around each leaf. I felt it needed a bit more so I added a few straight quilting lines.
This afternoon my job is to add the backing and binding!
I have to say that last night I began to wonder why I don’t make more pillows? They’re a quick and satisfying project and I get to use pretty scraps. It’s a win/win if you ask me.

That looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love your pillow! I just finished a small table topper with similar leaf shapes and I'm really liking the look. Isn't nice to use up scraps?

ReplyDeleteYou just inspired me! I have quilts everywhere but plain brown pillows on my couch. Why??? Tonight I'm diving into my stash and making nice covers. Thanks for the inspiration!
