Washi Tape Christmas

Today I’m a part of the Handmade Christmas Decorations blog hop!  The nice people at Stitch Craft Create organized a month-long blog hop to showcase a few of their Christmas crafty books.  The book I chose to work from is called Washi Tape Christmas by Kami Bigler.

I was really drawn to this book because of the cute projects and fun ideas, including many that kids can do too!  Plus I’m always looking for an excuse to use some of my washi tape collection.  When I’m out and about in craft stores, It’s hard to pass up a cute washi tape roll, am I right?  So I end up with lots of great washi tapes and I’m always on the lookout for ways to use them. 

Today I took two of the projects from the book and made them into one:

First, I printed the Christmas Tree template from the book right onto some white cardstock.  Printing a template is super easy when you have the e-book version.  Just right click, go to “print” and then select the page number to print.

I gathered all of my green colored washi tape and my small hole punch.

I randomly placed strips of tape over the tree outlines.

Then using sharp scissors, I cut out each tree.

I used the small hole punch to make a hole at the top, just big enough for a piece of string.

Then I wrapped a few tea lights in washi tape (another craft from the Washi Tape Christmas book). 

I put the little candles in a small cellophane bag and punched two holes in the top.  The string threads through the holes and helps to keep the bag closed.

And there you have it!  I’ll definitely be making a few more of these for teacher gifts this Christmas!
