This is one of those quilts that looks more complicated than it actually is! And for those of you who haven't tried making a quilt on point before this would be a great time to try it!
Preppy finishes at 50" x 60", and uses 5 fat quarters and some yardage for the sashing and background. You can download the free PDF pattern HERE. It's available as a freebie for all newsletter subscribers.
I love these Gingham Girls prints (designed by Amy Smart for Penny Rose Fabrics) and I've been looking for just the right project to use them in. They were the perfect choice for this Preppy quilt. And I added in the navy swiss dot (from Riley Blake) as well.
The quilting is a design called Diagonal Plaid which I thought worked great with all of the other diagonal lines in the quilt, and it also added some great texture!

Saw this on Diary of a Quilter and came straight over -- what a great design!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful design! But I started cutting this and I found that the pattern call for 24 blocks of each color, but the quilt calls for 30 colored blocks. I have to go shopping now.
ReplyDeleteI missed the second red fat quarter. But it does not make the same square unless you have extra blue for the squares. And I'd suggest buying more white fabric.
DeleteHi Daisy Quilts! Not every block will have a blue square in it. Some of my blocks had two yellow squares and two red squares. I'll add a photo of the full quilt to this blog post. --Andy

DeleteYou could easily adapt this pattern yourself. I have made 15 quilts just by looking at a quilt I like. I use Graff paper to draw the design and find it quite easy. Good luck.😁

DeleteRecently I was looking for something to make as a donation to a military kids' camp. The quilt needed to finish at 50x60, and could go to either a boy or girls between the ages of 6 and 17. When I saw this pattern I knew it was the perfect one. I used my scraps of red, white and blue with a black and white polka dot for the sashing. I loved it so much I have other color combos to do again! Thank you for offering this perfect pattern.

DeleteHello! I love this pattern. I recently made it but incorporated folded flowers from “Fantastic Fabric Folding” by Rebecca Watt. I used more fat squares because the folded fabric takes more fabric. But I loved the way it turned out. Thank you for the idea.
