If you're sewing along, don't forget to download this week's printable sheet here from the Fat Quarter Shop. And at the end of my post I have info about the grand prize giveaway from Moda Fabrics - you're not going to want to miss this one!
I had originally planned on taking several days to piece this quilt top together, but as I made the first row I got SO excited I just kept sewing and kept sewing. I ended up finishing it in one day and loving how it turned out!
I have to admit, that over the weeks as I made my fabric choices for each block I tried to keep the color balance of the final quilt in mind but I did stress out about it a little.
In the end I think it all works together and I'm happy with the result. I wish I could go back in time and tell past-Andy to not worry about it so much! ;)
For the backing I used this soft blue Moda Grunge. The color is called Soothing - isn't that the perfect name for this color??
And speaking of the backing...remember that one single rocket ship block we made last week? Here's where it landed - right in the center of the quilt back!
For the quilting I used a design called Rolling Hills from 627 Handworks (Julie Hirt). This was the first time I've stitched up this design and I love it - it's a fresh take on the classic clam shell quilting design.
I hope you had fun sewing along, and if you're still catching up that's okay! Take your time and enjoy stitching away on this fun project.
