I have two new things to share with you today! New fabric, and a new pattern that will be available soon! And even if it's not quite feeling like spring outside, it sure is looking more spring-like inside today!
This is the soon-to-be-released Prime Time quilt pattern (throw size) made with a new fabric line called My Favorite Things.
My Favorite Things was designed by Elea Lutz for Poppie Cotton. It has some darling small floral prints, delightful roses, and Elea's signature whimsy. My Favorite Things fabrics are now in quilt shops - ask your local shop if they've ordered it, or find it in shops on etsy.
For my quilt I used mostly the pink, blue, and yellow prints - leaving out the browns and the prints that had the off-white background (you can see all of the prints in the photo below).
For this pattern I also needed a contrasting fabric to use so I found a pink Kona solid (Kona Shell) that went beautifully with the prints, but didn't distract from them in the final quilt. I also thought a light yellow solid (like Kona Maize) would work well too!
Now just a little bit about the Prime Time pattern...I'm currently sewing up one more sample and putting the finishing touches on the pattern. It will be perfect for using precut 10" squares, but I am also adding the option of using precut 5" squares, fat quarters, and yardage as well.
The Prime Time pattern will also have at least four size options, and I'm trying to see if I can squeeze a fifth one in too because options are good, right?
I'm hoping to have the Prime Time pattern ready to release in mid-April, and if you're signed up for my newsletter you'll be the first to know when it's ready.
For the backing on this quilt I used the same light pink Kona solid that I used on the front (Kona Shell) and the binding is a coordinating blue print that I had in my stash.
The quilting is a longarm edge-to-edge design called Cakewalk. It's a sweet all-over loop print, and I love it because it's non-directional. Sometimes loop quilting can look too linear for the quilt I'm using it on - but this Cakewalk panto is perfect.

I would love this latter to include a smaller size appropriate for a baby/toddler.
ReplyDeleteI'm checking your site twice a day for the pattern. My Granddaughter has decided she wants to make this quilt for a friend as a graduation gift. Can't wait to see it published.
ReplyDeleteAny idea on when the pattern will be available?
