Hello everyone and welcome to any new visitors!
This is a big week for a couple of reasons-- First of all, it's finally my turn to share the block I designed for the Sewcialites 2 quilt along with the Fat Quarter shop! The second reason is that this is block #23 which means we are ONE block away from being able to start piecing our quilt tops together!
Are you ready to see the block I designed? This is the Changeling Star block:
For this Sewcialites 2 quilt along, we were asked to design a block that we are crazy about...either one that drives us crazy to sew, or one that we're crazy in love with.
I knew immediately that my block had to have two things - first of all it HAD to be a star block. I love star quilt blocks. I also really love blocks that look different depending on fabric placement - and this one has some fun options!
These are just a few of the different versions I came up with using the Changeling block pattern. I think I need to add a couple of these into my final quilt, don't you?
For all of my Sewcialites 2 blocks I've been digging through my scrap bins to use mostly navy blue scraps with a few lighter blues and grays sprinkled in. For the background I'm using my favorite Moda Grunge, called Fog.You can find the free pattern for the Changeling Star block here (Sewcialites block #23), and all of the previously released blocks here from The Fat Quarter Shop. Each block pattern includes instructions for a 3", 6", and 9" block, and I've been making the 9" blocks.
If you're sewing along with us on this QAL be sure to add your block to the Sewcialites Lounge on Facebook. I can't wait to see what you create!
