Juice Pops quilt pattern

Introducing the Juice Pops pattern! Juice Pops is a precut friendly quilt pattern that brings those Summertime vibes with fun and easy popsicle quilt blocks.

The Juice Pops quilt first appeared in Quilter's World magazine and was designed to be a charm pack quilt. But ever since then I've been really wanting to add more size options and more fabric options to the pattern and offer it in my shop.

The pattern now has FIVE sizes and five fabric options, and uses quick strip piecing for the popsicle handles to help speed up block construction.

Juice Pops is Precut Friendly

My original Juice Pops quilt was a charm pack quilt but now I've added even more fabric options for you. You can use:

• Precut 5" squares (charm packs)
• Precut 10" squares (layer cakes)
• Fat Eights
• Fat Quarters
• Yardage (1/4 yard cuts)

Or even scraps! There aren't specific instructions for using your scraps but it would be easy to do. And in fact, I have a scrappy pink Juice Pops on my want-to-make list. 

Pattern Sizes

Juice Pops includes instructions for five different sizes of quilts. I try to squeeze as many size options into my patterns as I can.

• Crib: 39.5" x 48"
• Lap: 56.5" x 65"
• Throw: 65" x 73.5"
• Twin: 73.5" x 90.5"
• Queen: 90.5" x 107.5"

The quilt in these photos is the throw size and I used 14 fat eighths to make the quilt.

If you're wanting to make a quilt with charm packs the throw size is the most efficient - it uses two charm packs with no waste. Just be aware that if your charm pack has any squares in it that are very close to your background fabric you might want to swap those out for a print that has a bit more contrast against the background.

Rainbow Sherbet Fabrics

For this version of Juice Pops I used a fat eighth bundle of prints from the Rainbow Sherbet fabric line. It was designed by Sarditty for Moda Fabrics, and the prints are made from Sarah's sketches, doodles, and quilting designs. 

From a distance they appear to be solid fabrics but they add a bit more texture and whimsy and I just love it!

For the popsicle handles I used Moda Bella 183 (color is Silver)

My background fabric is Moda Bella 98. Did you know Fat Quarter Shop sells bolts of it? It's really handy to have a bolt on hand. This is easily my most-used background fabric. 

For the backing I used Moda Bella 132 (color is Breeze) and the binding is one of the prints from the Rainbow Sherbet fabric line.

Longarm Quilting

I quilted this on my Handi Quilter Fusion using an edge to edge computerized design called Belly Bop. This quilt just needed a quilting design that didn't take itself too seriously. I love these loops because they have a sketchy feel to them and are not quite so formal and exact as a traditional loop quilting design.
