Windy City Quilt Pattern

Windy City is the newest pattern in the A Bright Corner shop!

After sharing my first version of Windy City, done in bolder ombre style fabrics (see it here), I was really craving one made with some floral, summery prints.

I fell in love with the Summer Sweet fabric line and knew it would be so great for these twisty star blocks.  Isn't Summer Sweet the perfect name for this fabric line?  It's so summery and fresh - like a bowl full of sherbet.

(Summer Sweet is designed by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda Fabrics.)

Windy City pattern is a really flexible pattern!  You can use any of these:

  • precut 2-1/2" strips (Jelly Rolls)
  • 10" squares (Layer Cakes)
  • yardage
  • fat quarters (my favorite)

These star blocks are fun to make and easier than they look - I promise!  There are no Y-seams (a lot of you have asked!) and the pattern has plenty of full-color diagrams to help step you through everything.

Penny likes to sneak into the shot - she comes running when I have my camera!

The pattern has instructions and diagrams for four sizes of quilt: crib, throw, twin, queen.

This version of the quilt is the throw size and I used 1/4 yard cuts of ten different prints.  But you could easily use 10 FQ as well and get the same look.
