I'm so excited to be able to share my newest quilt pattern, Fast Track! It's a quick and easy quilt pattern that uses pre-cuts and includes four sizes of quilts.

So far I've made three different versions of Fast Track and I've pretty much loved them all. I shared the first one a few weeks ago, and I have a red and gray Christmas version that I'll share next week. And I'm dying to make one with only solid fabrics - I'm just trying to narrow down which colors to use. Any suggestions?
Super quick to piece
We all love how fast strip piecing is, and I designed this pattern to be a unique take on a quick and easy strip quilt. With Fast Track there is minimal cutting and very few seams in each block. And with no points to match up, and no borders to add you'll be done with this quilt in no time.
Use pre-cuts or yardage
One of my favorite things about Fast Track is that it's ALL color! There is no background fabric needed and it's such a great way to use your favorite pre-cuts.
You have the option of using Jelly Roll strips, Layer Cake squares, fat quarters (my favorite), or even yardage. Not a big fan of pre-cuts? I've got you covered. Fast Track has instructions for using 1/4 yard cuts of fabric.
Or better yet, dig into your stash and cut 2.5" strips from your favorite prints - that's what I'm thinking of doing one of these days. I'd love to make a super scrappy one!
I make every effort to add as many sizes as I can into each pattern. Fast Track includes instructions for four different sized quilts:
Crib: 44" x 53"
Lap: 53" x 61"
Throw: 61" x 70"
Twin: 70" x 79"
And there are full color diagrams included for each size of quilt to help you through those last few steps of laying out and piecing the quilt top.
For this lap-sized version of the quilt I used the new Folktale fabrics ** designed by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics.
This lap size needs 42 total Jelly Roll strips. Since most packaged Jelly Rolls have 40 strips in them I added another 1/4 yard of fabric- I was able to cut two more strips for the quilt to have the needed 42 total strips.
I love the warm colors in this Folktale fabric line - so perfect for fall!

Pieced on a Juki TL-2010Q using Aurifil Thread (50 wt color 2021)
The quilting on this one is an edge-to-edge computerized longarm design called Reverse Loops. For the backing I found a coordinating solid at one of my local quilt shops.
There are so many pretty colors in this fabric line, I really could have chosen any of them for the backing, but I wanted to make more of the green prints stand out so I found a solid green that was close enough.
If you make a Fast Track quilt I'd love to see it! Tag me on Instagram (@abrightcorner) and use the hashtags #FastTrackquilt and #abrightcorner so we can all see what you create!
How about doing a patriot one. I'm always looking for simple patterns to make Quilt of Valor quilts
ReplyDeleteI love that idea Marie!
DeleteI love that idea of a patriotic one. I also look for simple ones. I make them for the VA hospitals.
DeleteI just bought 10 half yard precuts and would love to make a full size quilt for a bed with what I have. It’s 5 total yards, so I’m hoping it’s possible? Maybe with a border? I’m a beginner & this pattern looks easy enough for me to do. 🙂 tmo.harasho.58@gmail.com
