I have a new pattern to share with you today- just in time for your Christmas and holiday sewing.
Introducing Winter Magic!
I've been loving large-scale statement quilts lately and this one was a fun challenge to design.
Winter Magic is a unique take on a medallion quilt. I love the look of medallion quilts but not the exactness in seam allowances that they require. I designed this quilt to have the look of a medallion without the tricky piecing.
The pattern makes a 78" x 78" quilt
Use Fat Quarters, Yardage, or Scraps
Here's the bundle of Riley Blake basics that I used for the cover quilt. I used a good mix of basics (Swiss Dot, Shabby, Small Hashtag, Blossom, Kisses, Large Hashtag, and Confetti Cotton) in four different colors: Green, Cayenne, Aqua, and Iron. (Find the full detailed list along with links at the end of this post.)
Two Border Options
What says Christmas more than holly and candy canes? The pattern includes instructions for two border options - the holly border that is shown on the cover quilt:
And a candy cane twist border option that I just love!
I wanted to have options for those of you who are not big fans of the color green, or for those fabric lines that don't include any green prints - like this one:
This is Winter Magic mocked up in Warm Winter Wishes fabrics (designed by Holly Taylor for Moda Fabrics)
Longarm Quilting (and backing)
For the backing I chose to use RBD Confetti Cotton in Aqua, and the binding is Confetti Cotton in Iron. The longarm quilting is an edge-to-edge design called Soho. It's a favorite of mine! It stitches up quick, and looks great on pretty much any quilt.
If you make a Winter Magic quilt I'd love to see it. Tag me on Instagram (@abrightcorner) and use the hashtags #WinterMagicQuilt and #abrightcorner so we can all see what you create!
I love it!
